Banyan Tree Group Debuts Dhawa in Thailand with Dhawa Old Town, Bangkok

Banyan Tree Group, a leading multi-branded hospitality group with a portfolio of premium resorts, hotels, residences and spas, has announced the arrival of its design-focused brand Dhawa to Bangkok. Operated in partnership with Anantana Co., Ltd, the 200-key hotel will be located on Maha Chai Road in the Thai capital’s Phra Nakorn district. After a comprehensive renovation, it is expected to reopen as Dhawa Old Town, Bangkok towards the end of 2025.

The reimagined property will join a rapidly expanding collection of Dhawa hotels in urban cities and beachfront resorts around the world designed for travellers with a taste for adventure and a unique perspective on travel. Dhawa Old Town, Bangkok will be conveniently located within Phra Nakorn District, the once bustling historic center of the city. Today, it is nestled within walking distance from iconic landmarks such as the Grand Palace, the Giant Swing, and Chinatown. With excellent public transport nearby – Sam Yot tube station is just a five-minute walk away – guests can also easily access other attractions and landmarks in Bangkok.

The hotel’s design will celebrate its location in Dhawa Old Town, in the former cinema precinct of Bangkok in the 1960’s and 70’s. Each of the 200 stylish guest rooms is equipped with modern amenities, offering views of Bangkok’s Old Town or downtown Bangkok. A variety of dining and beverage options will also be available, from the street-facing ‘Bar-ception’ with signature bakery and grab’n’go snacks, to the canal-side boulevard cafe through to the top floor indoor-outdoor rooftop bar.

We are excited to bring Dhawa to Bangkok, a city that shares many of the brand’s signature attributes. By melding the old with the new, the traditional with the trendy, the exotic with the familiar, Dhawa caters to the modern traveller who values contemporary design, comfort, and technology, but also craves a distinctive stay experience that blends imaginative design with local culture and history. Gabriel Gn, SAVP, Group Head of Business Development at Banyan Tree Group

The Group has been present in the Thai capital since opening its flagship Banyan Tree Bangkok property in the Sathorn area in 2002, followed by the arrival of Homm Sukhumvit34 Bangkok in 2021. Future plans in the city include the opening of Cassia Residences Rama 9 Bangkok in one of the city’s most popular neighbourhoods, Asoke-Rama 9, also known as Bangkok’s New Central Business District.
