Skift, TTG, Conde Nast Traveler and other leading publications recognised the brand’s excellence in customer service, product development and sustainable design
Banyan Tree, an acclaimed brand of hotels and resorts providing naturally luxurious, ecological, and culturally sensitive experiences, has achieved remarkable growth and recognition since its inception in 1994. Starting from a single resort in Phuket that transformed a polluted tin mine into a sanctuary for the senses, it has since expanded its presence to 31 properties in 11 countries.
Catering to the evolving needs and preferences of modern travellers, the brand has also evolved two extensions – Veya and Escape, offering distinct immersive and nature-integrated experiences that shine a spotlight on sustainability and wellbeing. These innovative initiatives have earned the Banyan Tree brand widespread acclaim from the industry and consumers alike, as evidenced by its milestone wins at key industry awards in 2023.
In its first year of operation, luxury jungle-ensconced resort Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape, was recognised as the winner of the 2023 Skift IDEA Awards in the ‘Industry Innovators: Hotels’ category. One of the industry’s most respected and coveted honours, the awards celebrate excellence in design, creativity and innovation within the travel industry, acknowledging the pioneering brands and businesses that are shaping its future.
Similarly, Banyan Tree AlUla made an indelible mark in its inaugural year by earning a coveted spot in the Architectural Digest 2023 Hotel Awards as one of ‘The 21 Best New Hotels Around the World.’ Located amidst the captivating dunes of the Ashar Valley, this property pays homage to Bedouin traditions and local craftsmanship while harmonising seamlessly with the hues of the surrounding rock formations.
In other notable wins, Banyan Tree Group was given Gold Award for Best Annual Report in Singapore Corporate Awards and named the Best Spa Operator by TTG Travel Awards 2023. For two years running, the TTG Travel Trade Publishing event organised by TTG Asia has recognised Banyan Tree Spa as the best spa operator in the Asia-Pacific region. Meanwhile, wellbeing-centric Banyan Tree Veya Phuket was conferred the highest accolade by Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2023, winning the coveted #1 Hotel in Thailand title from the well-travelled readers of the prestigious publication.
This year alone, Banyan Tree received 13 awards from Forbes Travel Guide, four wins from DestinAsian Readers’ Choice Awards, 16 accolades from Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific, and another four awards from Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards. Additionally, Banyan Tree Residences, the group’s branded residential arm, has secured two 5-star awards at Asia Pacific Property Awards for their Thailand portfolio, Banyan Tree Residences Creston Hill and Banyan Tree Grand Residences.
Banyan Tree's dedication to expansion and innovation remains steadfast, with three exceptional upcoming properties: Banyan Tree Dubai in November this year, then in 2024, Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe which marks the first of this wellbeing-centric brand extension in the Americas, along with Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto, signifying the brand's debut in Japan.
