Banyan Tree Group is proud to announce its participation in this year’s Earth Hour – a global movement to protect the planet and raise awareness about climate change.
As part of the Group’s commitment to sustainability, properties around the world switched off all non-essential lights and electrical items for one hour on 25 March at 8.30pm (local time) to participate in Earth Hour. During this time, we saved over 3,200 kWh with the participation of more than 10,000 guests, community members and associates from almost 60 properties across the globe.
In line with this year’s theme “Invest in Our Planet”, the Group’s hotels and resorts also organised special events and activities for guests to join in the celebrations, including craft workshops using recyclable materials, lighting candles, conducting conservation talks, screening documentaries, providing live music and performances, stargazing, holding yoga sessions under the moonlight, and organising candlelit dinners.
We are proud to be a consistent supporter of Earth Hour as a way to reaffirm our commitment to sustainability over the years. Our participation in Earth Hour was a success, and we hope that it inspired our guests to join us in taking action to protect our planet for future generations.Michal Zitek, Senior Director, Regional Operations of Banyan Tree Group
